Marketing and Sales are Different …

I hear many Solopreneurs talk about how much they struggle with marketing and generally what they mean is that they don’t enjoy being a salesperson. Yes, you do need to sell your services, but there is a great deal more to marketing than that. You will run a more successful business if you understand the difference between marketing and sales.

Marketing is communicating about the nature of your business to others.

It’s helping others know what you do and how you can help them. Marketing informs your potential client about your business, your products or services you’re offering them.                                                    To attract clients in a crowded marketplace, your target audience needs to know why they should choose your business over someone else’s. This is where marketing comes in to educate current and potential clients about your business and how it serves a need and desires they have.

Sales are the process of converting prospects into clients.

For a Solopreneur, this is sometimes as simple as telling a prospect at the end of your first conversation, “I would love to work with you”. Sales skills are learnable and there is a wealth of great information available about this area. I strongly believe in Selling from the heart.

What I mean by selling form the HEART

Selling form the heart is different. It puts your prospective client at the heart of what you do and focuses on delivering a valid solution for their problems. Also, you’ll find this a lot easier, more fun and more fulfilling than you had previously considered sales.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The bottom line is if you don’t make the sales, you won’t have a business for much longer. For now, keep it clear in your mind that to run your successful business, you must be both a marketer and a salesperson.

Here are principles of selling for the heart you can use :

H ave belief in yourself and in your values. Believe that you have valuable service and products that can help people

E njoy what you do. Share your passion. Become an expert, Specialise and share your expertise through your website, social media, public speaking, wherever your target audience is.

A sk lots of questions of your prospects. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. Be genuinely interested in their fears, frustrations hopes and dreams. That way you will find out if you have a solution that can help them or not.

R elationships are the key to selling from the heart. Don’t focus on closing a sale but focus on opening the relationship, engage with them, ask questions, find out if they are someone you can and want to do business with as well as allowing them to make the same decision.

T ake them to the next step in your sale process. Now you know marketing and sales are different so stop saying you don’t like sales go and practice HEART selling you will find it easier and more fulfilling so it would be win win situation for you and your potential clients

Now, I hope you know marketing and sales are different, and that you need both, so stop saying you don’t like sales. Go out and practice HEART selling you will find it authentic, easier and more fulfilling so it would be win win situation for you and your potential clients
